Case Study – Yarra Me School, Victoria, 2020

Team Teach was a really well put together Protective Intervention Training package that was delivered with real clarity and purpose.

The presenter obviously had a rich history in the psychology of behaviour supports and positive and safe training techniques for children and young people which was shown in how she proposed scenarios, gave personal examples and answered questions.

A strong focus of the training was on prediction, prevention and de escalation techniques, the importance of verbal and non verbal communication and structured de briefing and repair with students.

The Team Teach framework and processes aim to not only promote awareness and better understanding of each individual’s needs and how to support their development but to better protect staff working in challenging environments also.

The outreach teachers at Yarra Me School are promoting Team Teach training to our referring schools as a comprehensive tier one whole school approach, as this package aligns with our current professional practice and evidence base.
